HESCO begins drive to recover its dues

HYDERABAD: In connection with the recovery of outstanding dues of Rs 42.748 billion against domestic consumers, Federal and Sindh Government departments, the management of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company has launched a grand operation in its region from Thursday.

A total of 0.613 million domestic consumers have the liabilities of Rs 16.91 billion. As many as 2008 connections of Federal Government Departments have the outstanding dues of Rs 1.42 billion and 14763 connections of Sindh Government Departments have outstanding arrears of Rs 24 billions, a HESCO spokesman informed.

He informed that HESCO recovery teams have launched a operation against the defaulters in Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sanghar, Saeedabad, Nooriabad, Golarchi, Tando Muhammad Khan, Qazi Ahmed, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta and others cities of the region and so far disconnected 8000 connections of the defaulters with recovery of Rs 127.5 million from them.

The HESCO management also registered FIR against 20 power thieve and issued letters of registration of FIR and detected 748 more power thieves, the spokesman said and added that eight among them have been arrested.

The HESCO management also suspended 31 employees of the company on charges of negligence in the duty, he added.
