ISLAMABAD: Central Information Secretary Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shireen Mazari, has said that the decision on Kishanganga dam has exposed the incompetence of experts representing the case of Pakistan in International Court of Arbitration (ICA).

As per press statement issued on Thursday, PTI leader said, “Reading of the detailed judgment shows clearly that either the so-called professionals or experts representing Pakistan’s case were incompetent or deliberately in league with India to undermine Pakistan’s interests.”

Criticizing the government for misleading people about the Kishanganga decision Shireen Mazari said that repeatedly ICA in its judgment refers to Pakistan not having supplied essential data including on agricultural uses of water from the Kishanganga.

Pakistan did not submit data on the impact of the project on country. In fact there seemed to have been a complete absence of any data supplied to put forward Pakistan’s case, she added.

PTI’s Information Secretary stated that this clearly showed the negligence intent on the part of all those responsible from the previous government which appointed a layperson with not an iota of experience in the field.

She said, “There could even be a case for treason on withholding of data from the Pakistani side to allow India success in its designs to deny Pakistan its rightful share of water under the Indus Water Treaty”

PTI leader said that government claimed the decision as a victory for Pakistan but in reality the decision has undermined Pakistan’s long term water inflows by guaranteeing only a minimum flow of water for Pakistan.

Mazari demanded that present government should hold all those involved in what was clearly a conspiracy against Pakistan’s access to its rightful share of water accountable.
