ICCI, HEC to collaborate for enhancing Academia-Industry Linkage

ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) have decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the promotion of knowledge economy and entrepreneurship.

As per issued press statement, on Friday president ICCI Shaban Khalid, called on Executive Director (ED) HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed at HEC secretariat, Islamabad.

President ICCI was also accompanied by, Deputy ED Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) Dr. Vaqar Ahmed, and Secretary ICCI Majid Shabbir.

During meeting, representatives of both sides identified areas of mutual interest and collaboration for further strengthening linkages between academia and industry.

It was decided that a MoU will be signed between both sides for promotion of knowledge economy and entrepreneurship.

President ICCI proposed inclusion of the entrepreneurship strategy, which was previously proposed by the entrepreneurship steering committee to be launched from HEC platform.

He said that ICCI is also planning to set-up a business incubation facility and, for this purpose, construction of a separate block at ICCI premises is in process.

It was also decided that both institutions will draft the MoU which may address issues hindering academia industry linkage for knowledge exchange.
