ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the federal government to finalize the process of appointment of chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) as soon as possible.

On Wednesday, justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui while hearing the case remarked, “The matter should be brought in the notice of Prime Minister (PM) also to end the negative impact on education.”

Court ordered government to submit the written reply in court till January 6, 2014 regarding permanent appointment of chairman HEC.

The petitioner Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman argued in court that 130 days have been passed but process of appointment of chairman HEC has been not finalized, while acting chairman can work only for 90 days.
