Indian Biomass company signs MoU with Punjab govt

LAHORE: Indian Company, Universal Biomass Energy (Pvt.) Limited signed Memorandum of understanding (MoU) for installation of 15 Mega Watt (MW) biomass power plant with Punjab Government on Friday.
Signing ceremony was held in the presence of Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Farrukh Javed.

According to the MoU, Indian company will be responsible for installation and efficient working of the plant.
The company will also provide relevant technical training and the Plant will be connected to 132-KVA line for power supply to field areas.

Plant will be handed over to Punjab government in two years after successful completion.
Director Universal Biomass Energy (Pvt.) Limited Pawanpreet Singh Badal singed the MoU on behalf of his company and secretary agriculture Punjab, Dr. Ijaz Munir and chief engineer energy department, Iftikhar Ahmad Randhawa singed it from Punjab’s side.

From Indian delegation Balour Singh, Sukhbir Singh, Parambans Singh Romana, Kunwarjeet Singh Sandhu and Harshawla attended MoU singing ceremony.

Chairman planning & development Irfan Elahi, additional secretary agriculture Ahmad Ali Zafar, director general agriculture (Ext. & AR) Dr. Anjum Ali and deputy director (Mechanical) agriculture field Abdul Ghaffar Dogar were also present at the occasion.
While addressing to the ceremony, Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Farrukh Javed said that biomass energy projects of Punjab government will be helpful to overcome the energy crisis.

He disclosed that 1277 MW electricity can be produced by 10.94 million ton available biomass in the Province, adding that provincial government is seriously taking practical steps to come over the energy crisis.

He said that negotiation with other countries is also in process for installation of other biomass power plants.
Pawanpreet Singh Badal applauded the measures taken by Punjab government and thanked Punjab government for hospitality during their 5 days visit to Lahore.
