PESHAWAR: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President and Ameer Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday said that it is surprise regarding the senate election that we will win the election. He said that PDM is not an electoral alliance but it becomes the electoral alliance the possibility could not declared impossible. He said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan should not make itself party in matter of senate elections and should leave the situation unchanged. He said that the PDM should jointly contest the senate polls so that the opposition should reach in parliament with good power.

While talking to media persons in Peshawar, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the judges are continued to give remarks in the case pertaining to holding of senate elections through open balloting and first remark was that the constitution is silent regarding the matter. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that where the constitution is silent, the role of the court ends and there is role of parliament to bring amendment in constitution and should clarify the matter. He said that the court always interpret the constitutional clause and if no constitutional clause is present then it is our request to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to not make itself party and leave the situation as same.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the PDM candidate for senate election from Islamabad Makhdoom Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has said that the establishment is neutral in senate then we could not unnecessarily partial. “We are firm on our stance regarding the 2018 general elections, adding that we stick to our stance today and even our stance will be same tomorrow,” he added. He said that the rigging is rigging and it is not acceptable at any level.

The court, he maintained, should abstain from becoming a party in the case. The JUI-F chief further said that the government is all set to be surprised with PDM’s victory in the polls. He added that Senate’s elections have nothing to do with the planned march towards the federal capital. “The convoys will head to Islamabad on March 26 as planned.”

“The rigging in Kurram Agency and Daska is unacceptable; bogus votes were found in the Agency,” he said.

Fazl added, “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate should be declared ineligible in Kurram.” He observed that the results were changed and the undeserving candidate was made to win. “We reject such results.”

“In the by-elections, officials of the Election Commission (ECP) were either involved or helpless, but the electoral authority, instead of taking a notice, has held the results of the polls.”

“ECP should make its decision,” the veteran politician demanded, saying, “rigging is what it is regardless of who’s involved. The authority should announce re-polls in both the constituencies.”

Maulaan Fazalur Rehman said that rigging in NA-75 Daska and NA-45 Kurram by-elections is unacceptable and rejected the results of both constituencies.

The JUI-F chief said 600 fake postal ballots were recovered from NA-45 before the start of polling. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate was allowed to contest the poll instead of being disqualified, he added.

“The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has kept the results on hold but it should cancel the elections. The 2018 general elections were also rigged.
