It is unbecoming of govt to humiliate or tease teachers: Justice Jawwad S Khawaja

ISLAMABAD: Justice Jawwad S Khawaja has remarked “ it is not becoming of government to humiliate or tease the teachers as they are architects of the nation and the society is degenerating on moral front due to lack of respect for teachers.

He further remarked it is incumbent upon all of us to pay respect to teachers. He gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of SC during the course of hearing of a lady teacher promotion case from grade 15 to 17 on Thursday.

At the inception of hearing of the case, lady teacher Khair un Nisa appeared in person before the court while Abdul Rahim Bhatti advocate appeared as amicus curiae under the court’s orders.

Punjab law officer told the court Elementary Education Jhelum has sent recommendations to secretary education about promotion of Khair un Nisa. One month time is required for taking decision in this respect.

The court while giving 30 days to education secretary to decide the matter of promotion of lady teacher from grade 15 to 17 in consonance with law adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.

Talking to media men after hearing of the case , lady teacher said she started struggle for achieving her right when her daughter was one year old and now she is 12 years old and is studying in 7th class. But justice is not being meted out to me. I have pinned all hopes on SC.
