ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has started postal service to provide driving licenses to the citizens at their homes.

SP (Traffic) Asmat Ullah Junejo said this step had been taken to facilitate those declared eligible for the driving license by ITP test teams and provide them licenses at their door step.

Under clause VII of Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965, he said the driving license by ITP will be issued only to those residing in Islamabad. He said some candidates use temporary addresses to get driving license and it might become difficult to trace their family in case of any accident. He said normal delivery of licenses would be made in two days while urgent cases would be also entertained.

He said this step would help in discouraging the practice as people try to get driving license of Islamabad district on basis of temporary addresses.

The SP (Traffic) has also appealed the citizens not to use invalid or wrong addresses as their licenses would be delivered at addresses of Islamabad prescribed in CNICs.
