JI demands deployment of army before LB polls

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi has demanded the government to ensure proper security and deployment of army personnel before Local Bodies (LB) polls.

A three-member delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi led by its Naib Nazim Nasrullah Khan Shajih held separate meetings with the provincial law minister Dr Sikandar Mendhro and provincial election commissioner Tariq Iqbal Qadri at their offices here on Tuesday.

During the meeting, a detailed discussion on the issues pertaining to the local bodies’ (LB) elections, law and order situation of the city were come under discussion.

Former JI lawmakers Hameedullah Khan Advocate and Younus Barai were also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, Nasrullah Khan Shajih stressed upon the need to announce a proper schedule of LB polls and to remove the lacunas in LB System.

He further demanded that the reservations of the political parties on LB Ordinance should be redressed, so that the common men could directly facilitate with the LB System.

JI Naib Nazim Karachi further demanded the government to ensure proper security to the LB candidates in elections, as six candidates of LB elections have already been targeted before the commencement of LB elections and deployment of army personnel in LB polls.
