KARACHI: A banned outfit claimed responsibility for killing six people who were found slaughtered in a shrine on the outskirts of Karachi. Police said bodies of the victims were recovered from the shrine of Ayoub Shah in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Maymar area.

SSP Central Amir Farouqi said all the deceased were kidnapped before being slaughtered last night. “Apparently all of them have been slaughtered with sharp-edged dagger which is recovered from the crime scene,” police said.

Upon further investigation, he said, it revealed that three of the dead are custodian of the shrine. Four them were identified as Munawwar, Ramzan, Abid and Saleem, ageing between 25 and 50 years.

He said a slip was recovered from the bodies through which a banned outfit has claimed responsibility of the killings and threatens that those usually use to visit shrines could meet the same fate.

Some ten days back, five friends, two retired army officers among them, were founds shot dead on Noori Jam Tamachi’s shrine in the center of Keenjhar lake near Sindh’s Thatta town. The murder mystery is yet to be resolved by the investigators.
