LAHORE: Justice Shahid Kariim of Lahore High Court (LHC) while declaring a notification regarding approval of 72 members of National Assembly belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as illegal, has issued a detailed written verdict containing 25 pages.

Justice Shahid Karim in his detailed judgment, declared that approval of notification of resignation by the speaker NA is against the constitution and assembly rules which is why this notification is declared and null and void.

Justice Shahid Karim in his written decision mentioned that NA speaker should summon the members of assembly who had resigned and provide them two opportunities and that before attestation of resignations those members could take their resignations back.

In his verdict, Justice Shahid Karim penned down that the said members could take their resignations back by informing the speaker NA in writing and that the secretary NA would take steps for ensuring participation of members in the National Assembly meeting.

It is worth mentioning here that PTI leaders including Riaz Fatyana, Fawad Chaudhry, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shafqat Mehmood and others had approached LCH for declaring the notification null and void.
