LHC reinstates Parvez Elahi as CM Punjab

Lahore: Lahore High Court reinstated Chaudhry Parvez Elahi as Chief Minister of Punjab.

Court suspended the notification of de-notifying Chaudhry Parvez Elahi from the post of Chief Minister from Governor Punjab.

After the notification was suspended, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi's post as Chief Minister was restored.

In the hearing of the petition against de-notification of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi by the governor, the full bench of Lahore High Court asked Pervez Elahi's lawyer to come with instructions that the assembly will not be dissolved until the vote of confidence is taken.

During the hearing of Parvez Elahi's de-notification case, Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh asked if we suspend the governor's notification, will you immediately dissolve the assembly?

Take out the Manzoor Watto case and read it, maybe it has happened before.

Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh remarked that the assembly will not be dissolved until the vote of confidence is taken.

Pervaiz Elahi's lawyer pleaded that more time is needed for undertaking on not to dissolve the assembly.

If the court reinstates Parvez Elahi, then the court should issue an order that the assembly will not be dissolved.

On which Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh remarked that how can we issue such an order.

Or we should not give you interim relief, after which lawyer of Pervaiz Elahi said that the purpose undertaking is that no one can misuse it.

It takes some time to get the assurance in writing.

The Honourable Court issued notices to the Punjab Governor, Attorney General and others, for next hearing on 11th of next month.

Earlier, during the hearing, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi's counsel Barrister Ali Zafar presented an affidavit signed by Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, declaring that if Governor's notification is suspended, then Punjab Assembly will not be dissolved till the next hearing.
