Malik re-elected as SAARC Chamber vice president

KARACHI: SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI), an apex body of regional chambers, has re-elected Iftikhar Ali Malik for the fourth consecutive time as chamber’s Pakistan Chapter vice president.

Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) had nominated him for the SAARC vice president seat 2014-15. In the past Iftikhar also remained President of FPCCI and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

He has represented Pakistan’s private sector in scores of foreign countries and several time accompanied the president and the prime minister’s delegations as member of their entourag.

Talking to newsmen, he said that it is objective of the chambers that trade between SAARC countries should increase substantially in near future especially between

Pakistan and India He emphasized the need of frequent exchange of trade delegations to respective states. Mailk pointed out that at present trade among SAARC countries is around 6 percent and said that efforts would be made to increase it substantially.

He advised Pakistani business community to concentrate on South Asian countries markets and added that if they succeed it will help bring economic stability in the country.
