Maryam Nawaz demands probe into death of PTI worker

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday while holding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan responsible for death of party worker on Wednesday said that the young generation can play its role in changing the fate of the country.

Addressing party’s youth leadership in Lahore on Thursday, Maryam Nawaz said that the former prime minister was using youngsters for his politics instead of thinking about their future. “If any party has a plan for the development of the youth, it is the PML-N,” she said adding that there will be large number of youth in the upcoming Parliament.

Maryam also demanded an investigation into the death of the youth outside Zaman Park and said that the country cannot progress without justice. Further firing a broadside at the PTI chairman, Maryam Nawaz said it is unfortunate that Khan is ready to lead a political rally but not to appear before court.

The PML-N senior vice president went on to say that the youth is the biggest stakeholder of Pakistan, and PML-N gave the first youth programme. She said they do not believe in hollow slogans but practical work for the youth, adding that they have to provide opportunities for the youth. She said the majority of the country’s population consisted of the youth, whether it was rural or urban population. There was dire need to give them a right direction so that they could contribute to nation-building, she added.

Maryam terming the youth real strength of her party, said that their participation in organisational matters would be ensured. The PML-N had become a youth representative party in a true sense, as the party had credit of initiating various schemes aimed at providing better employment and business opportunities to them. She said that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif worked for making the youth self reliance whenever the PML-N got an opportunity to serve the country, and started various initiatives through financial assistance, scholarships, soft loans, etc.

The PML-N chief organiser said that Shehbaz Sharif had introduced education-friendly Punjab Education Endowment Fund project, whereas interest-free loan scheme was also launched by the PML-N government. She said the youth was attracted toward the latest technology by providing them with laptops, while local and international scholarships were also provided to brilliant and deserving students.

She said there were ample opportunities to excel in the field of Information Technology, and the youth of the country had a right place to display their skills and get their share in the local as well international market.
