Islamabad: Motorway police on Wednesday foiled a possible terrorist plot after it seized a stockpile of arms and ammunition being transported from Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa to Punjab, a spokesperson for motorway police said.

According to spokesperson, police officials intercepted a suspicious vehicle near Burhan interchange on M-1.

After conducting a search of the vehicle an array of arms and ammunitions was discovered including Kalashnikovs, sniper guns, light machine guns, SMGs, pistols, rifles, and thousands of bullet rounds.

Police also apprehended the culprits Ameenur Rehman and Muhammad Asim.

The suspects were shifted to undisclosed location for investigations.

The large quantity of weapons seems to be a brazen act of terrorism. Officials said this was a swift action against miscreants saving the city of Lahore.
