ISLAMABAD: Former dictator, General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf Monday filed a review petition against the Supreme Court’s (SC) July 31, 2009 verdict regarding imposition of emergency 2007.

The petition challenges the judgment in which a 14-judge bench headed by then chief justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry declared unconstitutional and illegal Gen Musharraf’s second coup through Emergency Order of November 3, 2007, and most of the actions taken under it, including the appointment of over 100 superior court judges.

Musharraf’s lawyers team consisted upon Ilyas Siddiqui, Ibrahim Satti, N A Rehman Qureshi, Barrister Saif, Barrister Shahida Jamil, Barrister Kiran Ayub, Ahmad Raza Qasoori, Barrister S J Durrani, Afshaan Adil and Rana Farooq.

Sharif-ud-Din Pirzada, Wasim Sajjad, S M Zaffar and Malik Qayyum were nominated as members of research team that will assist field lawyers.
A think tank consisting upon former judges and former minister Dr Khalid Ranjha has also been established.

The decision to file the review petition was taken during a consultative meeting also attended by Gen Musharraf.
