LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Wednesday that former president Pervez Musharraf has committed treason as head of the state for which he should not seek any immunity.

“Musharraf committed treason by abrogating the Constitution.

He took the decision being head of the state, at times he was in commanding position, whereas others were his subordinates and bound to obey his orders,” the minister said in a press conference here in Lahore.

“Musharraf is attaching his step with the army which is not appropriate…There is no immunity for any abrogator of the Constitution,” Rana asserted.

“The PML-N has no personal grudges with Musharraf,” the minister said. He said that Punjab Govt and PML-N respects the judiciary and whatever is their verdict we would accept.

He expressed doubts over the recovery of explosives material from Musharraf’s route to court. “Why something is recovery on the day of hearing” he asked.

Regarding political future of Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri he said that their future till 2018 would remain bleak. In order to keep themselves politically alive they execute such dramas, which is not such a major thing.

Regarding seeking help from Maulana Sami ul Haq for talks with Taliban Sanaullah said it is national duty of everyone to seek help for dialogue or any matter related to Taliban. He said yesterday’s Mujahideen are today’s Taliban and dialogue is the first option for the nation and the country.
