NA body dissatisfies over steps taken for rehab of FATA IDPs

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON), Monday, expressed dissatisfaction over poor performance of relevant quarters for safe return and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) from Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA).

NA body directed D.G FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) to arrange immediately meeting with the concerned quarters to address the IDPs problems on war footing basis.

The committee met here under chairmanship of Muhammad Jamal Ud Din to discuss the working and performance of the ministry and its attached departments.

The committee also discusses the issue of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of FATA and expresses dissatisfaction over the performance of the concerned quarters steps taken by them for their safely the return and rehabilitation of IDPs.

Whereupon the Minister for SAFRON directed the D.G, FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) to arrange immediately meeting of the concerned quarters at Ministry of SAFRON to address the IDPs problems on war footing basis.

The committee also discuss the service structure of levies force and asked the concerned quarters to streamline the service structure and informed the committee in the regard. The committee recommended the federal government to release 50% of the annual budget in first quarter in order to use the budget in the current financial year in time.
