NA informed No Gas Load-shedding for Domestic Consumers

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was assured on Wednesday that no gas load-shedding will be carried out for the domestic consumers during this winter.

Parliamentary Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahzadi Umarzadi Tiwana told the House during question hour that domestic sector has been placed at the highest priority in terms of provision of gas.

To a question‚ she said gas supply to textile sector will be enhanced in the months of March and April next year depending upon the improvement in temperature.

When asked about the inauguration of TAPI gas pipeline project‚ the Parliamentary Secretary said that the selection of the consortium is currently in progress which will be responsible for implementation of the project including financing. The target for first gas flow from this project is December 2017. She said that the gas price of the project has not yet been determined but assured that this will be cheaper then Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.

Parliamentary Secretary for Cabinet Secretariat Raja Javed Ikhlas told the House that amendments are required in rules and regulations of Election Commission of Pakistan to introduce the electronic voting system in the country. He said a committee is already working in legislation which will enable the EC to implement the electronic voting system in the next general elections.

Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Chaudhary Jaffar Iqbal told the House that delimitation of wards in all the cantonment boards except Ormara has been completed under the old act and the Supreme Court has allowed the Election Commission to hold the local government elections in the cantonment in February next year.

Earlier‚ the National Assembly resumed its session in Islamabad today with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
