ISLAMABAD Supreme Court (SC) has given one day time more to NAB for fixing responsibility in OGRA corruption case. Justice Jawwad S Khawaja has remarked “ we have been hearing the talks about holding NAB executive board meetings since 2012. As per court’s decision investigations were to be completed within 45 days but no headway has been made even after lapse of 26 months to ascertain who is responsible. Matter of 83 billion dollars corruption is being talked of. May be the matter runs into trillion rupees corruption. How much time we could give we have given”.

A 3-member bench of SC headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up for hearing OGRA corruption case Wednesday.

Chairman NAB Qamar ul Zaman Chaudhry appeared in the court and held out assurance that court’s orders will be complied with fully. Only one day time be given more, he prayed.

He submitted that NAB had convened meeting of executive board. One reference has been filed and the remaining matters have also been finalized. Only decision has yet to be made in this regard.

The court remarked “ nothing has been done except sending a reference even after lapse of such a long period.

KK Agha prosecutor general NAB told the court “ I had already told the court that matters have been finalized to considerable extent and now orders of chairman NAB were needed.

The court remarked “ Attorney General (AG) should give arguments to this effect that no court including SC can give any order to NAB and all the powers rest with only chairman NAB.

Chairman NAB said “ you have given orders and they have four parts. Please give more time to comply with them.

The court gave him 24 hours time besides adjourning the hearing of the case till today.
