ISLAMABAD: A dispute has arisen between National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the matter of compensation of electoral lists.

Media reports said, NADRA had enlisted the names of voters in electoral lists during general elections 2013 on the request of EC but, now differences have emerged between both departments on the issue of compensation.

Sources said, NADRA has demanded Rs 860 million for enlisting of votes, while EC is ready to give Rs 80 million only in this regard.

As per argument of EC, 10 rupees per page registration agreement was done with NADRA and 10 to 12 voters were registered on one page. By this calculation EC has to pay only Rs 80 million to NADRA.

On the other side, NADRA says, one page means enlisting of one vote only, and NADRA registered 8.61 million votes with the rate of 10 rupee per page.

So EC should pay Rs 860 million in regard of vote’s registration.
