NEPRA drops electricity bombshell on Karachi citizens

ISLAMABAD: National Electricity Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) increased electricity tariff Rs 0.51 per Unit for Karachi residents on Tuesday.

Prices increased for the quarterly adjustments for the period from September to November.

NEPRA led by Chairman Touseef H. Farooqi took up the application for hearing and approved hike in power tariff.

During the hearing Nepra chairman remarked that K-Electric has been allowed to increase the price of Rs. 0.51 per unit under uniform tariff .

NEPRA officials said the price has been increased for three months from September to November.

Karachi consumers will pay the electricity bills with the increase of Rs 0.51 per Unit till January 2023.

K-Electric quarterly adjustment is 3.55 Pkr while the people will pay only 0.51 Pkr.

During the hearing NEPRA officials told that government provides 291 billion yearly in term of subsidy to the people of Karachi.
