ISLAMABAD: New Pak Secretariat construction project has been delayed due to inappropriate planning and incompetent performance of Pakistan Works Department (PWD) and Consultant NesPak.

Details said, this project was to be completed in 2010, but will now complete in June 2014, while early completion of project can save millions of rupees of government.

Estimated cost of this project is Rs 3.5 billion, out of which more than Rs 2 billion have been spent on the construction of building, but electrical and mechanical work has not started yet.

Other than that, no arrangements have been made for the infrastructure of building like water supply, drainage system and sewerage system.

Sources said, this project has been caught in critical problems like non availability of funds and corruption, while 3rd major issue in completion of this project is a stay order of court taken by a contractor.

Federal minister for planning and development Ahsen Iqbal has taken the notice of this situation and monitoring of this project has been given to Central Circle taking it from project circle.
