Non appointment of judge: Hearing of Benazir assassination case adjourned

RAWALPINDI: Hearing of Benazir assassination case could not take place due to non appointment of new judge in Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) here Saturday. Former CPO Rawalpindi Saud Aziz and former SP Rawal division Rawalpindi Khurram Shahzad appeared in the court on Saturday.

It may be recalled that former president Pervez Musharraf who has been nominated as prime accused in this case has been exempted from his attendance in this court due to security concerns. He is admitted into AFIC Rawalpindi at present and the remaining five accused are kept in Central jail Adiala.

The court has summoned the witnesses for recording their statements. However notification on appointment of new judge could not be issued following the retirement of judge Chaudhry Habib ur Rehman. Duty judge Rana Masud Akhtar has adjourned the hearing of the case till January, 11.
