One teacher killed, 8 hurt as train hit female school staff van in south Punjab

Vihari: A female teacher was killed while eight others got injured when a train hit a van carrying female school staff at an open railway crossing here on Wednesday, officials said.
Police said that Karachi-bound Fareed Express coming from Lahore struck a van while it was passing the track at open railway crossing at Danewal village in Vihari district of south Punjab.

The van was adversely damaged in the accident critically injuring eight persons. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Vihari where Rabia, 24, succumbed to her wounds while condition of some injured female school teachers was also serious.

Last year, on July 6, a train travelling through central Pakistan hit an overloaded motorcycle rickshaw at an unmanned railway crossing, killing up to 14 people, accident was happened near Khanpur village in Shaikhupura district of Punjab province.
