Islamabad: Opposition parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and Pakistan People’s Party have staged walk out over the statements of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar during National Assembly’s session on Wednesday.

Chaudhry Nisar had said in NA session that a single party was staging drama over thumb verification.

Addressing the media, Opposition leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said his party will not become part of midterm elections conspiracy.

PTI vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said electronic voting system should be introduced to avoid all confusion, adding that the session was boycotted over Nisar s remarks.

During the National Assembly’s session, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said election tribunal wasn’t under his ministry.

Referring to PTI, Chaudhry Nisar said a single party was staging a drama over thumb verification of votes, adding that a confusion was created over the magnetized ink.

Nisar said the government was ready to form a committee headed by a judge to probe the matter, adding that he feared around 60 percent unverified votes in each constituency.

Nisar said that a large number of votes cannot be verified as magnetized ink was apparently not used in all districts.

He said action should be taken against those who couldn’t provide magnetized ink to all polling stations.

Nisar said the caretaker government and election commission was responsible to ensure fair elections and prevent rigging.
