ISLAMABAD: Public Accounts Committee adjourned meeting with anger expression over not holding monthly meeting of audit committees of ministries and division.
Committee decided to write letter to Prime Minister and establishment division to stop pensions of those principle accounts officers who are not holding monthly audit meetings.
Committee also issued directions to chairman to take action against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officers who are not taking actions on billions corruption cases.
PAC meeting was held on Tuesday with Chairman Noor Alam Khan on chair. The meeting was attended by committee members, secretary aviation, auditor general and other authorities.
On the occasion Aviation division told committee that departmental audit committee meeting was held four days ago but no recommendations were received by auditor general office and PAC. They also told that all ministries and divisions were informed after the issuance of schedule of PAC meeting, division and ministry will not hold monthly audit meeting because recommendations of this meeting cannot be presented in meeting.
Committee member Barjees Tahir said if Departmental Audit Committee (DAC) recommendations are not available in the meeting then holding meeting is useless.
Senator Saleem Madviwala, another member of committee said this is so sad, DAC is holding meeting after receiving the information of PAC meeting. He said ministries and division are not holding meetings on monthly basis. Letter to express anger over it be send to Prime Minister and in annual ACRs it be mentioned about not holding DAC meeting.
On the occasion chairman Noor Alam Khan asked DAC why was not held, he further said being Chairman I receive 20 thousand extra allowance and if I will not hold this meeting that money will come illicit “Haram”.
He said PAC directed secretariat to write establishment division including prime minister that secretaries are not making DAC. Their salaries and other allowances to be stopped.
Sending message to Chairman NAB he said you came from a good institution to NAB. Anyone who did corruption should not be given any relaxations. He said make investigation on the assets of NAB officers.
He said Chairman NAB came from institution is respectable and billions corruption cases are in NAB. There is no working upon them, ask these officers why this is.
