Rawalpindi: On the eve of the 59th Defence and Martyrs Day, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Services Chiefs, and the Pakistan Armed Forces proudly commemorate the triumphant legacy of the 1965 War, a paradigm of the nation's indomitable will and unyielding spirit. This day serves as a poignant tribute to the valor, sacrifice, and heroism of our gallant soldiers who valiantly defended the motherland against formidable odds. According to the statement issued by the ISPR on Friday, 59 years ago, the Pakistan Armed Forces decisively thwarted the enemy's malicious designs, securing a historic victory that will be etched in the annals of history forever. The 1965 War was a beacon of hope, exemplifying the nation's resilience and determination in the face of adversity. The statement said that we pay heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan who have laid down their lives since 1947 in defence of Pakistan and especially those who have given ultimate sacrifices in fights and war against terrorism. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten. We also salute the veterans who fought valiantly, their bravery and selflessness will always be remembered. The statement said that the Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to defend the country against all threats and challenges. We along with Law Enforcement Agencies stand ready to defend our homeland with unwavering dedication and unrelenting passion, upholding the spirit of September 1965. We also pay tribute to the families of all our martyrs and veterans who have borne the brunt of their loved ones' sacrifices with courage and resilience. Hearing of bail after arrest plea of PTI founder, Bushra Bibi adjourned in new Toshakhana case for receiving Balgari jewelry

Rawalpindi: Judge Nasir Javed Rana of Accountability Court (AC) Islamabad has adjourned till September 9 hearing of bail after arrest plea of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in new reference of receiving precious Bulgari jewelry from Toshakhana. Both the accused along with their lawyers Barrister Suleman Safdar and Naeem Panjutha and NAB investigating officer in Toshakhana reference deputy director Mohsin Haroon, Barrister Shehroz Gillani and Sohail Arif were present in the court. During interval of the hearing former chairman PTI said before deputy director NAB Mohsin Haroon " if I am released I will take you all to court. Jail Police and NAB lawyers were also present on the occasion. Later the court adjourned the hearing of the case till September 9 due to non presence of NAB Prosecutor.

President Zardari for stronger Navy to protect Pakistan’s geo-economic interests

Karachi: President Asif Ali Zardari has called for making the Pakistan Navy further stronger to protect Pakistan's geo-economic interests as well as defend the maritime frontiers of the country. Welcoming the induction of MILGEM Class Corvette Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Babur and Offshore Patrol Vessel PNS Hunain into the Pakistan Navy (PN) fleet, he said that the ships would enable the Navy to meet its ever-growing operational responsibilities. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed these views while addressing the induction ceremony of PNS Babur and Hunain into the Pakistan Navy fleet, on Friday, at the PN Dockyard, Karachi. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of National Defence Turkiye, Mr Bilal Burdali, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, senior representatives of construction yards, high-ranking officials of the Armed Forces and the political leadership. PNS Babur is a multipurpose ship built and commissioned at Istanbul Naval Shipyard on 23 September 2023. PNS Hunain, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, was built and commissioned at DAMEN Shipyard, Romania on 25 July 2024. Addressing the ceremony, the President highlighted that the induction of PNS Babur and Hunain into the fleet was a milestone achievement in fortifying Pakistan's maritime defence capabilities. He noted that these ships would enhance the operational readiness of the Navy to counter both conventional and asymmetric threats. The President underscored the pivotal role played by the Pakistan Navy in ensuring maritime security, contributing to regional stability, and supporting the country's economic growth by safeguarding sea lanes of communication. He said that the Pakistan Navy was ensuring the continuous flow of maritime commerce and defending our maritime boundaries, in view of the great potential of the blue economy for the country's economic growth. The President reiterated Pakistan's resolve to defend its sovereignty, uphold peace, prosperity, and sta bility, and defend the motherland at all costs. He stated that Defence and Martyrs' Day reminded us of the courage, unity, and determination of our Armed Forces and citizens who defended our nation against external aggression. He paid rich tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland. Acknowledging the collaborative efforts involved in the construction of the newly inducted ships, the President expressed his gratitude to the teams from Pakistan, Trkiye, and the Dutch DAMEN Shipyard for their dedication and hard work. "These ships symbolize our strong friendship with Trkiye and our trust in the Dutch DAMEN Shipyard in Romania," he remarked. He added that the development would further boost the Navy's ability to defend the country's maritime boundaries. The President also extended special congratulations to the Commanding Officers and crew of PNS Babur and PNS Hunain, wishing them success in their future endeavours. In his welcome address, the Chief of the Naval Staff termed the induction of the two ships in the PN Fleet as a major milestone in the capacity building of the PN Fleet. He acknowledged the government's full support for providing best possible resources for this purpose. He also acknowledged the professional competence of M/s ASFAT, Istanbul Shipyard, DAMEN Shipyard Galati Romania, and the entire project team for delivering potent ships which showcased the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between friendly countries.

Natasha Danish accused in Karsaz car accident case granted bail

Karachi: Additional District and Sessions Court Karachi East has accepted bail plea of Natasha Danish in Karsaz accident case. The court accepted bail plea of the accused against surety bonds in the sum of Rs one lac. The counsel for the accused took the plea the accused is suffering from mental illness and she is undergoing treatment since August 2005. The accused is holding UK driving license which is valid for 6 months in Pakistan. The legal heirs of victim have forgiven her in the name of Allah Almighty. The counsel for petitioner filed no objection certificate in the court. The court had reserved judgment. The court later while announcing judgment accepted bail plea of the accused. It is pertinent to mention here agreement had been reached between the family members of two victims and prime accused Natasha Danish earlier in car accident case. The family members of victims of car accident Imran Arif and Aamna Arif got prepared the affidavits. Sources said the family of Natasha paid over Rs 5.50 cr ore to family members of victim Aamna as diyat. Amount was paid through pay order.

Sacrifices of martyrs have made the defence of Pakistan impregnable: Khawaja Asif

Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said the entire nation, along with the armed forces of Pakistan, is united with renewed pledge for the defence of country's geographical and ideological boundaries. In his video message on the occasion of Defence Day, Khawaja Asif said this day reminds us the great sacrifices of the armed forces of Pakistan in 1965. He said sacrifices of martyrs have made the defence of Pakistan impregnable. The Defence Minister said the armed forces are fighting the war against terrorism with their full might and determination to save the country from this menace. He said the people of Pakistan are fully aware of the support and facilitation being extended to terrorists from across the border. Khawaja Muhammad Asif said we should not forget our Kashmiri brethren on this day. He said Pakistan will continue its support to the just struggle of the people of Kashmir.

EC rejects all 4 miscellaneous petitions of PTI in intra party case

Islamabad: Election Commission (EC) has rejected all the four miscellaneous petitions by PTI in intra party case. A 10-page decision has been issued by EC. In the decision written by member Sindh Nisar Durrani the objection raised by PTI regarding jurisdiction powers of EC in intra party election has been rejected. The EC has also rejected PTI plea seeking adjournment in intra party election case. The plea for postponing the intra party election proceedings till the decision of commission on the petition regarding reserved seats was also rejected. The EC directed PTI to resort to court to get return the documents FIA had taken from party office. It has been said in the decision that it is responsibility of EC to review legal requirements of clause 208 of election act-2017 intra party election. Seeing the facts about the issuance of certificate under section 209-3 is responsibility of election commission.
