LAHORE: Welcoming the remarks of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed regarding method of voting for Senate Elections, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Senator Sirajul Haq has said the comments of the top judge are the reflection of the sentiments of the nation.

“Pakistan no more needs doctrine of necessity. Establishment should stay away from the politics. The Election Commission of Pakistan should be independent and powerful. Every institution should work within its limits,” he said while talking to journalists at Mansoora on Thursday.

Earlier, Senator Sirajul Haq along with JI Secretary General Ameerul Azim and Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif inaugurated the tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling in Mansoora. He issued directions to the workers of the JI to all over the country to at least plant one sapling in their homes, gardens or anywhere during the spring season.

Senator Sirajul Haq said the PTI billion-tree project did not exist on grounds. He said timber mafia was more powerful than sugar and flour mafias in the country. He said Pakistan deforestation rate was world highest. He said the climate change and pollution were turned into the major issues and the successive governments failed to cater the challenge. He said greenery vanished from Karachi and Lahore and other big cities and millions of the residents were unable to take breath in polluted air.

Answering a question from journalist, Senator Sirajul Haq replied when the elections would be held in transparent manner and the culture of wealth and power to influence and hijack the system would be banned, the JI would certainly emerge victorious in polls. He said the past and present rulers badly failed to meet the expectations of the masses, hence the JI was the only option left with the people. If voted to power, he added, the JI would put the country on track.

To another query, he said the prime minister statement in a foreign country that he made repeated contacts with Indian premier Modi was tantamount to show weakness before the stubborn fascist regime of the BJP. He said the government should develop a decisive policy for the liberation of occupied Kashmir.

Senator Sirajul Haq said the JI would hold big rally today (Friday) in Bahawalpur against the inflation, unemployment and interest-based economy. He said the PTI government should either resolve the problems of the masses or get ready to go home.
