Pakistan seeking PTAs with Tunisia‚ South Africa

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is pursuing Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs) with Tunisia‚ South African Customs Union and East African Community as part of the trade diplomacy.

State media reported that Commerce Ministry told that negotiations are also in progress with Indonesia‚ Singapore‚ Thailand‚ Bosnia and Jordan for Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to seek more market access for Pakistani products.

They said Pakistan has also reactivated its request for starting negotiations on PTA with Russian Federation following Moscow’s accession to WTO.

A number of measures have been initiated to enhance trade with Sudan. There is substantial potential of Pakistani products in Sudan especially rice‚ wheat‚ maize‚ fruits‚ poultry‚ pharmaceuticals‚ textile products‚ marble items and products from steel sector.
