Pakistan-U.S. Strategic Dialogue Ministerial Meeting on Jan 27

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan-U.S. Strategic Dialogue ministerial meeting will take place in Washington on 27 January 2014.

According to Foreign office spokesperson, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz will lead a senior level delegation for the ministerial level dialogue with his U.S. counterpart, Secretary of State John Kerry.

The Pakistan-U.S. ministerial level dialogue was revived in August 2013 during Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Pakistan. It marks the commitment of both countries to strengthen Pakistan-U.S. bilateral relations and advance shared interests. Pakistan-U.S. Strategic Dialogue provides a framework for discussions on a wide range of issues of mutual interest and focus on enhancing cooperation on issues of mutual concern.

The ministerial meeting will review the progress achieved in the five Working Groups and discuss concrete proposals and opportunities for partnership in diverse areas of bilateral cooperation, including strategic stability, defence, energy, economic growth, law-enforcement and counter-terrorism, the spokesperson said.

The ministerial level meeting of the Pakistan-U.S. Strategic Dialogue will also afford an opportunity to highlight the priorities of the Government of Pakistan for economic development, including expansion of trade and investment.
