Peace in FATA through dialogue: Ch. Nisar

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that government of PML(N) is committed to bringing peace and stability in the tribal areas through dialogue and negotiations.

He was talking to a 7-member delegation of MNAs belonging to Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) which called on him here today. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf was also present during the meeting.

The Minister said all stakeholders would be involved in the dialogue process keeping in view local customs and traditions and development of tribal areas would be undertaken on priority basis. He sought the support of tribal elders and elected representatives to defeat the aims of insurgents and militants.

Referring to the recent military action, the Minister said it was forced on the troops stationed there on account of a terrorist attack. He condemned this 19th December suicide attack on a military check post which killed five soldiers and injured 24 others and said the elements behind such gruesome acts cannot be allowed to operate freely.

The MNAs apprised the Minister of matters relating to their constituencies and said that the people of tribal areas are patriotic and want peace and development.

They requested the government’s support in improving situation in the tribal areas and help in eliminating the cycle of violence. They reiterated their full support to the government in its efforts for peace through dialogue. The delegation comprised Dr. Ghazi Gulab Jamal, Mr. Ghalib Khan Wazir, Haji Bismillah Khan, Haji Shah Gul Afridi, Mr. Sajid Hussain Tori, Mr. Nasir Afridi and Mr. Bilal Rahman.
