PM phones COAS: Security situation discussed

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif phoned Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif on Monday following Rawalpindi attack.

Sources said that PM Sharif and Gen. Raheel discussed security situation in the country and expressed concern over a sudden rise in the incidents of terrorism.

The high-level contact was established also in the backdrop of a crucial meeting of the federal cabinet in which national security policy to deal with terrorism is likely to be finalized.

As many as 12 people including five army men were killed in a suicide attack near the GHQ in Rawalpindi earlier this morning. The attack came a day after car bomb blast in Bannu in which over 20 soldiers were martyred.
