Police mobilizes security apparatus for safety of Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Security in the Federal Capital has been put on high alert besides deployment of additional contingents of police at sensitive places and important buildings.

Inspector General of Police Sikandar Hayat has asked Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan to ensure elaborate security arrangements at all sensitive locations due to current law and order situation in the country.

Following these directions, police have started strict checking at all the entry and exit points in the city. Similarly, patrolling in the city has been further enhanced. Police Commandos have been deputed around sensitive locations and important buildings. Special police teams have been constituted by each police station for effective patrolling in its respective jurisdiction.

Bravo Vehicles have also been deployed to remain vigilant and ready to tackle any untoward situation while squad of falcon vehicles from Rescue 15 have been also deployed to enhance patrolling and staff has been directed keep in touch with heads of the police stations to ensure security arrangements.

Various halting points in Islamabad have been also specified to keep strict checking of those entering or leaving the city. IGP said that all SPs/ASPS/SDPOs have been directed to launch crackdown against anti-social elements, miscreants and suspected elements. Rapid response force of Pakistan Rangers have been deputed in Islamabad at various points.

Meanwhile, SSP Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan has directed all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs to ensure strict checking at all entry and exit points and keep close watch on suspicious persons. Special search of the forest and green belts of the city has also been ordered.

Special police deployment has been ensured at sensitive and important buildings while police officials in plain clothes have been assigned the task to keep vigilance against suspicious elements, he added.

As a part of these security arrangements, the IGP Sikandar Hayat said that additional logistic support and contingents of Police would be provided to all Police Stations while Rescue 15 and Police Commandos have been assigned the task for joint patrolling in their respective areas. IGP Sikandar Hayat has appealed the citizens to extend their full co-operation to police and immediately inform to Rescue 15 or concerned Police Stations about any specious person or unclaimed luggage.

He has also directed for effective coordination among all wings of Islamabad police including Operational police, CID Department, Security Division and Special Branch.
