Police shuhda benefactors, heroes of nation

Islamabad: The 1st January was observed as Police Shuhda Day at National Level. Police shuhda are benefactors and heroes of nation.

The martyrs of police have cleansed the stigmas with their blood. If we indulge into corrupt practices that would tantamount to betray with the blood of martyrs.

Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema expressed these views on the occasion of “Yaum-e- Shuhada” ceremony- a tribute to martyrs of Police- celebrated at Police Lines Headquarters, Islamabad. He said because of these martyrs, police officers can serve the nation proudly.

He urged to continue the mission of Shuhda. He get the commitment from all police officers present in the ceremony to continue the mission of Shuhda. He also got commitment from these police officers that if we indulge into corrupt practices that would tantamount to betray with the blood of martyrs.

Speaking on the occasion, Commandant National Police Academy, Akbar Hoti thanked and appreciated the efforts of Inspector General, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema and IG Islamabad Sikandar Hayat for organizing such an important event.

He said it’s a good way to remember the families of martyrs. “We all should put our hands together to support and help families of martyrs” he said. He informed that to counter terrorism, some important changes are required in law.

Inspector General, Gilgit Baltistan, Muhammad Saleem Bhatti also thanked and praised both the IGs for starting the New Year by this important event. He said sacrifices of Police Department of Pakistan were greater than any other Police Department of the world.

The IG of Islamabad Police Sikandar Hayat said that 32 Police Officers were martyred since the year 2005 during their duty. He said that families of martyrs should be awarded 10 million rupees. He said that police officers and jawans would follow the traditions of Shuhda.

SP Muhammad Bin Ashraf, Frontier Constabulary, Captain Tariq, Director I.B, DIG Liaquat Ali, AJK Police, Captain Shoaib, Commandant Police College Sihala, DIG Zafar Bhkhari, Sindh Police, also presented their views on the occasion.

On the occasion it was decided unanimously that the families of martyrs should be awarded 10 million rupees irrespective of their ranks, cadre or department and Government should construct housing societies for the families of Police Shuhda as it’s a most expensive need of humans.

It was informed that 583 officers form Punjab Police, 324 officers from F.C, 32 officers from Islamabad Police and 31 Officers from National Highways & Motorway Police had martyred during their duty.

At start of the ceremony Commandant Akbar Hoti, Inspector General NH&MP Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, Inspector General, GB Saleem Bhati, DIG Captain Muhammad Shoaib, DIG Zafar Bukhari, DIG Captain Zafar Iqbal, DIG Liaquat Ali, AIG Operations, Sultan-e-Azam Tamuri, SSP Sajid Khan, Captain Muhammad Tariq, SP Muhammad Bin Ashraf and DSP Alamgir flowered the memorial of martyrs.

Many families of martyrs also participated the event and were awarded with gifts and flowers by the organizers. Commandant Akbar Hoti, Inspector General Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema and Inspector General Saleem Bhatti took notice of the problems of the families of martyrs and passed directions to concerne d quarters.
