KARACHI: Police have traced fingerings from body parts of the bomber who killed SP Chaudhry Aslam in Thursday’s suicide attack in Karachi.

Investigations into the attack are in progress as three committees have been constituted under Inspector General of Sindh Police Shahid Nadeem Baloch.

According to latest reports, body parts of a man who seems to be the attacker, have been recovered from the blast site. Finger prints have been taken to ascertain the identity of the attacker. The fingerprints will help NADRA to identify the bomber.

Chief of the CID’s anti-terrorism cell was targeted when he was on the way from his house to Garden Police Headquarters. As soon as his double-cabin vehicle reached on Lyari Expressway near Eissa Nagri locality, a fierce explosion occurred that killed him along with his driver Kamran and guard Farhan.

The blast was so powerful that Chaudhry Aslam’s vehicle was reduced into pieces, a crack appeared in the road. A taxi parked nearby was also damaged in the blast.

Latest reports said an injured policeman informed investigators that a bomber rammed an explosive-laden pickup with Chaudhry Aslam’s convoy, causing a huge blast.

Sindh Police Chief Nadeem Baloch said it was premature to claim anything in connection with the investigations, adding three to four terrorist groups might be involved in the assault.
