Polio eradication gov’t top priority: Mamnoon

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said polio eradication is a high priority for government and concerted efforts and innovative steps in collaboration with all the stakeholders are being taken at all levels to make Pakistan a polio free country.

Talking to a delegation of World Health Organization led by its Country Head‚ Dr. Nima Saeed Abid‚ here on Monday‚ the President urged WHO to support Government’s efforts to eradicate Polio from the country.

The President appreciated WHO for its support and assistance to the government of Pakistan in natural disasters and emergencies besides assisting the country in the fight against polio and other epidemic diseases.

The President said that WHO since its inception in 1948 has been working in Pakistan and assisting the government and people of Pakistan in health related issues‚ combating epidemic diseases especially during natural calamities.
