President Hussain vows better ties with neighbor countries

Islamabad: President Mamnoon Hussain says the government is pursuing a policy of promoting relations with neighbouring countries particularly India to establish lasting peace in the region.

In an interview‚ he said it is high time that 1.5 billion people of Pakistan and India come out of the environment of tension and hatred and progress in a peaceful atmosphere. The President said Pakistan and India should learn a lesson from China and Japan for promoting their relations.

He said in spite of severe differences and border disputes‚ Japan has invested several hundred billion dollars in China‚ while maximum number of Chinese tourists go to Japan.

He said he will review a proposal to establish a special desk in the Aiwan-e-Sadr for Overseas Pakistanis in order to resolve their problems on priority basis. Similarly‚ desks on education and health will also be set up.

Mamnoon Hussain said being head of state‚ he does not represent any particular political party‚ but is President of the entire Pakistani nation.
