Proposal under consideration to shift Musharraf, SC to safe place

ISLAMABAD: The intelligence agencies and military authorities have declared risky and unsafe Former president Pervez Musharraf residence in Chak Shahzad Farm House , National Library where the SC is functioning and other routes.

Due to recovery of explosive material twice in the area close to the residence of former president Pervez Musharraf law enforcement agencies have been forced to evolve new security plan.

Sources said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) headquarters, Pakistan Navy headquarters located in E-10, newly constructed buildings of 3 embassies in diplomatic enclave and intelligence agency building in Rawalpindi have been declared secure places for the SC and residential purpose of Pervez Musharraf. It is being opined that Pervez Musharraf be shifted to one among these building. Simli dam rest house building has also been declared safe.

Proposals are under consideration to shift Musharraf to any one of these buildings and declare it sub jail besides setting up SC therein.

Currently as many as 258 officers and jawans of Islamabad police and 59 officers and jawans of Pakistan Rangers are deployed in connection with security of former president. Pervez Musharraf has also engaged the services of two retired army officers including Ilyas and Sher.

IG Police Islamabad Sikandar Hayat said that Pervez Musharraf was facing serious life threats but he will be produced in the SC at every cost on January, 1, 2014 in compliance with court’s orders and all the available resources will be utilized to ensure his security.
