MARDAN: Hundreds of female and male teachers of Mardan district staged a protest meeting at Government Girl’s Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) No 2, and later took out a protest rally against the provincial president of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) here on Thursday.

The issue flared up last Saturday, when District Education Officer- female (DEO-F) Zuhra Begum, was busy in a meeting in her office, when an employee in construction and works department Mardan and president of (APCA) Aurangzeb Kaashmiri entered her office, used abusive language and brandished weapons at her.

Later on the Deputy Commissioner Mardan Amir Latif Khan managed to get the enraged protesters to disperse peacefully, while Zuhra Begum wrote an application to local police for registering first information report (FIR) against Aurangzeb Kashmiri, which police registered under section sections 506,156 and 342 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and 3 MPO.

Sources reported that the motive behind volatile act, concerned Aurangzeb Kashmiri’s brother named Zahir Ali, an employee in the mentioned office, whose salary had been stopped by Zuhra.

After registering the FIR against APCA president, police conducted raids to arrest him, however Aurangzeb escaped while police arrested his father Sheikh Mir, brother Zahir Ali and registered FIR against them under section 212 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Aurangzeb has been reported to have managed bail before his arrest from Peshawar High Court (PHC), while after the incident influentials, elders of the district tried to arrange an unsuccessful compromise among warring parties.

Meanwhile addressing a news conference at Mardan Press Club Aurangzeb Kashmiri strongly condemned the FIR registered against him, his father and brother alongwith condemnation over the raids of police, claiming that the DEO-F had registered a fake FIR against him.

Aurangzeb claimed that he went to Zuhra’s office to discus three cases of class IV but in her FIR she only mentioned my brother’s case, while also threatening him about her influential Commissioner brother, Yahya Akhunzada, boasting that she will do what she wants.

Aurangzeb also expressed ready willingness to take oath on Quran that he never threatened her nor used any harsh words or brandished any kind of weapon at her; since he claims to have possessed no weapon when he entered her office.

He added that Peshawar High Court (PHC) finished 3 MPO from him and gave him bail before arrest in other sections but despite of this the female officer closed all the schools of Mardan district, compelling teachers at an illegal protest rally against him, to pressurize the court.

“This also amounts to contempt of court”, he added, demanding government to take strict action against the mentioned female officer.

Aurangzeb Kashmiri also claims to posses several proofs of corruption against the female officer, whom he promised and he will very soon disclose it before media.
