PTI members barred from heading to residence of Speaker NA

Islamabad: Forty five Member National Assembly (MNA)s of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were prevented from going to Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf’s residence to return their resignations from the National Assembly.

According to media reports, immediately after the announcement of the withdrawal of resignation of 45 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the members jointly went to the Speaker’s residence.

On this, law enforcement agencies swung into action and prevented PTI members from going to Raja Pervez Ashraf’s residence.

PTI members were stopped outside the minister’s enclave by the Islamabad police and told they were not allowed to go further.

After which the members have sat there in protest while additional police personnel including women personnel have been called outside the minister’s enclave.

PTI members protested strongly on this occasion and raised slogans.

They were of the view that, they will not go back without meeting the Speaker National Assembly.

Later, after negotiating with the police, the members ended their protest and left for the Election Commission office.

Earlier, 45 members of the PTI reached the parliament to implement the decision to withdraw their resignations from the National Assembly and since Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf was not present there, all the members announced to go to the speaker’s residence together.
