PTI’s tehsil nazim Havelian Atif Munsif Kahn Jadoon among 10 killed in gun attack

HAVELIAN: At least 10 people, including the Tehsil Nazim Havelian and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, Atif Munsif Khan Jadoon, were killed in a rocket attack and firing on a vehicle in Haveliyan, a town in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Haripur district on Monday.

The unidentified assailants targeted the vehicle with a rocket and opened fire as a result of which 10 people were killed, officials said.

According to the police, unidentified persons ambushed the vehicle in the Langra area, a point between Haripur and Abbottabad when Atif Munsif Khan Jadoon was returning to his home after offering fateha.

The PTI’s leader car also caught fire in the attack and 10 people including his security guards were killed after armed men opened fire.

The attack also spread fear in the area. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the hospital.

The deceased tehsil nazim was the son of former MPA Haji Munsif Khan.

According to the police, the incident seems to be a result of family feud. Police have registered a case against the unidentified accused.

Authorities said they were facing difficulty in identifying the victims as their bodies were burnt in the attack. The bodies will be handed over to their families after identification, they added.
