PU VC inaugurates newly building of ORIC & QEC

LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that the government and the industry is recognizing creative skills of university teachers as their creations are contributing for progress of country and economy.

He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of new building of Office of Research innovation and commercialization and Quality Enhancement Cell at Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology here on Thursday.

Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Zahid Taqi Butt, Director Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Amir Ejaz, senior faculty members and a large number of faculty members were present on the occasion.

He said that the functions of ORIC and QEC were very important and difficult to achieve and they could play important role to bridge gap between university and industry and improve standard of education.

Speaking on the occasion Director, Prof. Dr. Aamir Ijaz said that the joint building of ORIC and QEC has been constructed at the 1st floor of Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology with a cost of 6 million rupees in about 6 months time covering an area of 3500 sq feet.

He thanked Vice Chancellor for realizing the importance of ORIC and QEC, and allocating funds for the construction of ORIC and QEC’s building which are vital organs of any educational and research organization.

He said the building would contain apart from the staff offices an Incubation Center, which would be available for faculty members to open spin off companies to bring the businesses in the university, fully facilitated with a working station and networking facilities. He said a show case will also be placed in the building displaying all the tangible products developed by PU faculty.
