Punjab police request to suspend mobile phone services on Imam Hussain’s Chehlum

LAHORE: The police have requested the Punjab government to suspend cellular service on the eve of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain to ensure law and order in the city.

According to sources, the police had requested to suspend mobile phone services from 6AM till the end of processions in 24 cities of Punjab.

The final decision over the suspension will be taken by Punjab government, the sources added.

Meanwhile, at least 20 districts of Punjab have been declared sensitive. Lahore, D.G. Khan and Jhang are among the sensitive areas.

Strict security measures will be taken to avoid any untoward incident on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain.

The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain is scheduled to be held on December 24.
