LAHORE: Model Town police have arrested PPP leader Qasim Zia’s daughter Anum Zia for injuring an elite force cop by her speedy car.

According to SP Model Town, Anum Zia was driving her car at the speed of 70 km per hour when she hit a cop of Elite Force, seriously injuring him.

Qasim, the former president of PHF, reportedly reached the scene of the incident and was trying to negotiate with the police.

The Model Town police have taken Anum into custody.

SP Model Town Tariq Aziz said Anum Zia didn’t have driving license. He said that police would fulfil all legal requirements of the case.

Talking to media, Anum Zia said she was looking for her friend’s residence when the incident took place and that she was not driving very fast and the car hit the cop accidentally.

The police, however, stated that Anum had been roaming around the chief minister’s house before the incident took place.

It was reported that the elite force had tried to stop her but she tried to get away.

While talking to a private TV channel, Anum said that the police outside the Punjab chief minister’s house stopped her and checked her bag but only found toffees in it, further adding that the officers hit her car with a steel rod.

“There was no one else in the car at the time of the incident,” she stated.

According to initial details, there were two other people in Anum’s car at the time of the incident.

The police stated she had no driving license. In her statement, Anum said she had learnt to drive in Britain and she does not have a Pakistani driving license.

A case was registered by the police against her.
