Qureshi reiterates Pakistan’s readiness to host SAARC Health Ministers’ conference
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to host SAARC Health Ministers’ conference to enhance cooperation among member state in health sector with particular focus on COVID-19.
In a telephonic conversation with his Bangladeshi counterpart A.K. Abdul Momen on Tuesday, he suggested that SAARC should evaluate and coordinate on the economic and social disruption caused by COVID-19 and experts from the member countries should commence work in this regard immediately.
Foreign Minister Qureshi underlined the need for immediate lifting of sanctions against Iran and enabling the Iranian authorities to utilize their resources for saving precious human lives.
Meanwhile The Foreign Minister also visited the Italian Embassy in Islamabad today and expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives due to Coronavirus pandemic.
Talking to Italian Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese, he said the pandemic has engulfed the entire world and every one of us is facing this challenge.
The Foreign Minister called upon the world community to forge joint and consensus efforts to cope with the challenge of COVID-19.
Andreas Ferrarese thanked the foreign minister for his arrival to the embassy to express solidarity with the people of Italy.
