Rawalpindi to have separate children hospital

RAWALPINDI: Separate hospital will be built for providing medical treatment to only children in Rawalpindi. Punjab government has decided to build separate children hospitals in 8 districts of province including Rawalpindi.

PC-1 is being worked out for establishment of children hospital in Rawalpindi. Venue for construction of children hospital has not been selected so far.

Rawalpindi has no separate hospital for children. Medical check up of the children is conducted in allied hospitals while children have to be taken to PIMS for surgery and treatment of other diseases. In children hospital, heart surgery, general surgery and surgery for other disabilities will be carried out.

Children hospital is functioning in Islamabad only where surgery facilities are provided to children. Only children wards have been set up in Holy Family hospital and Benazir hospital at Rawalpindi and no hospital exclusively for children is operating in public sector. .
