ritish Council Lahore, Punjab govt sign MoU on higher education

LAHORE: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked between the British Council Lahore and Punjab Higher Education Department to collaborate in attracting world reputed educational institutions.

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and Director British Council Richard Meir signed the MoU in a ceremony held on Tuesday at British Council Lahore.

Moreover, ICT companies to invest in the proposed Knowledge Park to be established in Lahore over an area of 852 acres of prime land located in close proximity of Defense Housing Authority Lahore.

Additional Secretary Higher Education Punjab Shahid Zaman and Additional Secretary Schools Education Punjab Ahmad Ali Kamboh also attended the ceremony.

Giving his remarks to the media on the occasion, Rana Mashhood Ahmad khan expressed his resolve to make a synergy between economy and education through the proposed Knowledge Park in which educational complexes of world acclaimed universities as well as the market-oriented disciplines of local universities will be established besides setting up the offices of information and communication technology companies.

The Minister emphasized the need to promote the knowledge economy in Pakistan to enable our youth to excel in every sector and play their role to make Pakistan a more prosperous country.

Punjab government will provide a technology-enabled learning environment in Knowledge Park Lahore because it is strategically important. The effectiveness of our education system had never been more significant, to economic success, he added.
