ISLAMABAD: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S), Maulana Sami-ul-Haq has started making contacts to bolster dialogue process with Taliban and also suggested some recommendations to government regarding his cooperation for dialogue process.

Sources told on Wednesday that Maulana asked the government to be strict with its stance of dialogue and if delaying tactics would be used in implementing proposed (JUI-S) recommendations then the party will ultimately back out from dialogue process.

He demanded of the government to urgently announce withdrawal from war on terror and stop intelligence-sharing over drone attacks. “This fire can only be extinguished through dialogue process,” sources quoted Maulana.

Sources said that Maulana Sami-ul-Haq has also demanded guarantee from the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that any kind of operation to sabotage peace process should be avoided.

The JUI-S chief also demanded of the government to clarify to US that drones are not only against country’s sovereignty but also derailed dialogue process.

He said that government should make the US realise that earlier dialogue process was going on successfully but single drone attack that killed Hakimullah Mehsud has finished everything.

The JUI-S spokesman, Maulana Yousaf Shah, when contacted by reporter, admitted that party has started making contacts for peace initiatives.

“We want to get rid of all obstacles that could halt dialogue process only then lasting peace can be restored in the area,” spokesman informed.

He said that peace process cannot be successful if rumours of military operation, drone attacks and so-called war on terror remain continue along with dialogue process.

To a question, he said that this is up to government now that how much it follows JUI-S recommendations, though, if it does not follow the recommendations than JUI-S can back out from process, he added.
