Secretary ECP said new dates for LB Polls in Sindh and Punjab would be issued after amendment in law, rules and legislation.

He however said that LB polls’ schedule for Islamabad, KPK and Cantonment areas remained unchanged.

Responding to a question, he said amendments would be made in Punjab and Sindh in the light of court orders.

LB polls were scheduled on January 18 and 30 in Sindh and Punjab, respectively. ECP had moved SC for change in polls schedule.

Ishtiaq Ahmed further said delimitation would be carried out as per the court orders.

He was optimistic that all such process would be completed soon and the LB polls be held at the earliest.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had proposed new dates for holding Local Bodies (LB) polls before the Supreme Court.

During proceedings of the delimitations case, the ECP had stated that LB elections in Punjab and Sindh should be delayed as time was required for the printing of ballot papers. The ECP recommended that LB polls in Sindh should be held on February 23 and in Punjab on March 13.
